Get Real

I really do like Christmas. I really do like decorating for Christmas. I really do NOT like artificial Christmas trees. I'm sure it is a personal bias since I grew up with real trees every year. People complain about the needles falling off, the sap, etc. Have you fluffed a fake tree lately? It's scratchy and prickly and needles fall off!! With a fake tree if there is a hole you feel obliged to rearrange branches to cover it up. With a real tree, you stand back and marvel at God's unique creation - holes and all. Give me pre-fluffed, holey, a la natural, with the wonderful scent of pine thank you .

Sweet Rewards

Sweet Rewards

One of the best things about my job is that I automatically become Aunt Kathryn to all the children, MKs, throughout the Pacific Rim. When I left in 2003, there were only 4 MKs here. Now there are 11 with one on the way. It is such a treat to watch them grow and be a part of their lives. Here is a picture of me and one of my mischievous little protégées.

The Pink Revolution

Since the 5th grade, I have been vehemently opposed to the color pink. I say since the 5th grade because my mother likes to point out that in the 4th grade, pink and purple were my favorite colors. I'm not sure what has happened (probably a pre-30 crisis), but I have rediscovered the novel color of pink.
OK, I'm sure you are wondering why I am wearing a coat considering I live on a tropical island. I thought I was going to be spending the first week of December in Japan and Korea, hence the need for a new cute coat. Unfortunately, the trip was canceled, but I still walk away a winner with this new coat.
